Wilsons fame surpassed that of the United States in 2014, when she landed a role as a character on Showtimes The Affair. In the show, Wilson was Alison Lockhart who is a young, troubled girl who comes from a rough background. Lockhart has a crush on a married Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded an award for her performance, the Golden Globe award for Best Actress for a Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson told British Vogue, "I loved playing an actor who could be each side of the story." Noah imagines Alison's sexy, confident, unresponsible side of sexiness. However, she perceives herself differently she sees herself as shy and dowdy in the real world. Wilson added that she does believe that America is morally skewed and judging that everything that happens on the show is shocking. Wilson quit the show, much to the surprise of the fans. To add more of the terror genre to her film credits she is slated to star in the British film version of The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller which is based on the novel written by Sarah Waters. Wilson will also be executive producing the movie.
